You were very lucky you only had to once! Normally, the process takes 3 days, and you have to return to pick up your passport!

Whoops, sorry I didn’t see this in the queue. If it’s still any use, I believe there were in the neighborhood of 12,500, for almost 7,690,000 voters.

Seriously though, the main consolation of writing really silly stories is that you can have a lot more fun with them than you can with something you have to treat with more care.
