I shot and did the video editing for this piece; writing, research, and editing were a team effort with  journalist Yerry Niko Borang.

Egyptian Tax Collectors: Mervat Qassem Hilal

Part of a 10-part series on the Egyptian tax collectors’ strike and the building on an independent union. The entire series can be viewed here. I recorded and edited all audio, and assembled the slideshows. Journalist Hossam el-Hamalawy provided translation and contributed photographs of the strikes and the union congress (though all of the images used above are my own).

I designed and built this flash package, which originally ran at the top of the homepage as part of special election-day coverage. The photographs are mine, and I assisted staff reporters to collect the audio recordings.

For The Jakarta Post: First Presidential Debate

(click through for interactive graphic)
This flash package, created for Indonesia’s first-ever presidential-candidates’ debate, was the first interactive graphic ever hosted on thejakartapost.com. I built the template in flash, based on specifications from staff writers and designers. We went on to produce a version for each presidential and vice presidential debate, posting a full-text translation of each candidate’s response. It was initially quite a slow process, but by the end of the election cycle, my team had the flash presentation ready to upload before the companion print story was complete.
